EFT Tapping

A tool that can help to safely and gently reduce pain and distress.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is often referred to as tapping and it’s very similar to acupuncture. We use our fingertips by gently tapping on our acupressure points. This helps to release those energy blocks which then helps to calm our body’s biological reactions (fight, flight, faint or freeze) right in the moment. This is considered a mind and body evidence-based tool that is simple and can be done everywhere.

How Does EFT Tapping Work?

EFT employs the meridian points, also known as energy hot spots, to balance your body’s energy – just like acupuncture does. Reestablishing this energy balance might alleviate symptoms brought on by a bad experience or a strong emotion.

EFT tapping has its origins in the 1970s, when a number of clinicians started pressing on acupressure points to assist their patients in overcoming stress, phobias, and fear. One of them is referred to as Thought Field Therapy and was invented by Dr. Roger Callahan. Later, Gary Craig streamlined the procedure and made it accessible to the general public as EFT.

According to Chinese medicine, meridian points are areas on the body through which energy flows. These pathways help balance energy flow to maintain your health. Any imbalance can have an impact on illness or disease.

In acupuncture, these energy centres are stimulated with the aid of needles. Fingertip tapping is used in EFT to exert pressure and stimulate these centres to restore balance.

Benefits of EFT Tapping Therapy

EFT reduces the body’s stress response, which can contribute to chronic pain and other health problems. According to this theory, tapping on the specific meridian points used in EFT helps to rebalance the body’s energy system and reduce the amygdala activation, a part of the brain involved in the stress response.
