You are not alone.
As a woman, wife, and mother, I struggled for many years with various health issues. During that time, I was only focusing on my physical symptoms which only gave me some temporary relief. I did not realize that a lot of my health issues were connected to my persistent cycle of people pleasing. I was living in a constant state of stress and anxiety, for I was trying to do it all . This caused my nervous system to function in a consistent state of fight or flight. I held onto my emotions, until they erupted and then I often would pass out. I then repeated this negative cycle of feeling guilty, shame and judgment towards myself for not handling my emotions and behaviour better. The stories that I keep telling myself kept me angry, depressed, sick, but most of all stuck!
Can you relate to this?
Maybe you are dealing with physical pain or unexplained health issues, and you keep pushing through because maybe you feel you don’t have a choice, due to family, work or financial reasons. I understand, however, what is the cost you are willing to take? I realized that I could not keep going this way and my body was screaming at me to slow down and I was too busy trying to do good, be helpful and do it all . BUT, when I was in need of support , there was very little help for me. Then I realized that nobody is coming to save me, I have to save myself. I started learning how to start taking care of myself and healing . I focused on positive self talk and giving myself time every day to take care of my mind, body and soul. I learned how to slow down, breathe and listen. I am very grateful to share that I am living my best life physically, emotionally and spiritually for the last 10 years due to learning how to manage my emotions, beliefs and actions safely by regulating my nervous system and connecting to all the parts of me.
